Project Introduction

Our possessions resemble our preference. Our possessions emit our identity. Our possessions are a representation of our microuniverse. Some items within us hold special memories. But the meaning gets faded as we get used to it. We forget what each item means to us. It gets dusted up.

This project aims to blow off the dust from our cherished objects, bring them into light, and look at them with a fresh eye.

Storyline

Humans sent a Voyager probe into space with a Golden Record in 1977. The Golden Record is a metal vinyl that contains records of humans living on Earth. Dusty Affection project started with raising a question, "What would happen if aliens found the Golden Record?

The (invented) story goes like this: while the explorer aliens are traveling in space, they come across the Voyager. They find a golden record attached to a navigator and study it. After a while, they learn to read the vinyl through an engraved code, and learn information about the Earth. They get interest in the Earth and visit it. They look at the human race, and they start collecting it for future research.

When they collect humans, they find strange objects that came with them. They identify objects, and classify them into three categories: escape from reality, self-destruction, and relationship formation.
